Thrifty Thursday – DIY Shower/Tile Cleaner

Cleaning supplies sure do rack up! Using the grocery budget to buy them is not fun. Here is a home made shower and tile cleaner that you can make from items already in your home.

Tile and Grout Cleaner:

1/2 cup of baking soda
1/3 cup of ammonia
1/4 cup of white vinegar
7 cups of water

  • Combine all the ingredients in a labeled bottle and shake well to mix. Apply to surface then wipe off with a damp sponge. Do not use with bleach.

Tip Tuesday – Dusting

Dusting is not the most enjoyable household job. Big flat surfaces are easy, but those knick knacks and corners are not much fun. Besides blasting a little music our tip will not make dusting a fun job, but we can try and make it a little easier. Try using a sock or old mitten on your hand. This will allow you to use your fingers to get into tight spaces and clean off knick knacks easily. For blinds, try using a ruler with an old sock slipped over.

For rings on your wood furniture, try our homemade wood cleaner. Mix olive oil and vinegar to wipe away spots and leave a great shine!

Breastfeeding in Church?

This morning our local news station posted a question on Facebook , “What do you think about breast feeding in public…like church?” We knew it would get some comments, but we were surprised to see how many! The opinions were wide and varied. Of course we posted a comment, but as you know we promote breastfeeding everywhere. Often times the conversation led towards breastfeeding being a intimate or even sexual thing. We know that many men see a breast and think …SEX, so we thought we’d help that mental image change a little with this video.

Tip Tuesday

All the tips in the world can’t prepare you for becoming a mother for the first time. The best tip we could give you is to have a good sense of humor. With that in mind, we found this article and thought we would replace our tips with theirs….enjoy!

Funny Commercial! Must see

With breastfeeding numbers on the rise, it’s no surprise that it is becoming more and more popular for companies to address the topic. This Luvs commercial features a breastfeeding mother nursing with her first child, then with her second.  The commercial is humorous and light hearted but still shows some progression in making this topic a little more socially acceptable. We also thought the scene of the mother nursing her first child was pretty accurate! It’s why we invented the BB Nursing Cover. So if you sympathized with the first scene and aren’t quite ready to let it call hang out, pick up your BB Cover today. Enjoy

Food Friday – Fresh Beef

Moooooo……Are you a red meat eater? If you are we have a suggestion on where to get the highest quality meat at the lowest prices. Don’t buy your beef at your big chain grocer. Who knows where’s its come from, and the prices are outrageous. A pound of extra lean ground beef can run up to $8 per pound! We suggest using your local farmer or butcher. Look for one that has the cattle on site. We found one in our state that has great prices and is delicious. A pound of 95% lean ground beef is only $3.08 and the steaks are to die for. These places aren’t always easy to find so hunt around and compare prices to your other options.

If you are in the Utah market, we recommend:

Dale T Smith and Sons. 12450 South Pony Express Road Draper, UT 801-571-3611. They only accept cash or checks.

Thrifty Thursday Valentine’s bonus!

Need a last minute gift for your kids or a friend? We just made these in 30 mins. We used some old vases from some previous floral arrangements, but get creative. You can use big red cups, boxes, buckets, etc.. The candy was purchased at the grocery store on sale and the Valentine balloon is from the party store. If you don’t have time to go to the party store, just use a plain red, white or pink balloon.  Clear cellophane was shoved into the vase with a piece of valentine tissue paper. We used hot glue to attach wooden skewers to the candy bars and shoved them in the vase. The balloon is blown up then hot glued to a skewer as well.

Use this same idea for birthday parties too!

Have fun!
