Thrifty Thursday- Kids Earning Money

It’s that time of year again! Summer is almost here. The kids are wrapping up school projects and taking finals. Now they are going to be home with your alllll day. We have a great idea. Tell them to GET A JOB! That may seem a little harsh, but we think a little hard work and extra money are a good combination. Not to mention that you don’t want to hear “I’m bored” for the next 3 months. So here is a list of jobs we put together for your kids this summer. Of course some of these are interchangeable by age, ability, maturity level etc.. but we hope it gets your create juices flowing.

 

1-3:

  • Pick up toys
  • Feed the pets
  • Brush pets
  • Put shoes away

4-6:

  • Household cleaning/Chores
  • Pulling weeds
  • Porch sweeper
  • Mothers helper
  • Start your own business  - Make brackets or art and post online for sale! Etsy and weekly are both great ways to sell your products
  • Clean out the fridge

7-9:

  • Bike wash
  • Yard sale
  • Candy store
  • Bake sale
  • Produce sale
  • Pooper scooper
  • Lemonade stand
  • Wash baseboards
  • Wash cabinets/walls

10-12:

  • Car wash
  • Garbage can cleaner
  • Dog walker
  • Golf caddy
  • Horse tending/stable cleaning
  • Law mowing/yard work
  • Animal shelter
  • Elderly neighbors – Help elderly neighbors with things they struggle to do. Could be chores or errands
  • Baby sitting
  • Organize closets
  • Organize Pantries
  • Wash and organize shelves
  • Wash garage doors

13-17:

  • House sitter
  • Camp counselor
  • Lifeguard
  • Rec center activities coordinator
  • Retail service
  • Food service
  • Amusement park
  • City venue
  • Fertilize lawns
  • Painting
